| At Morning Meadow much time and emphasis is given to play, which is, in fact, the childs work and the basis of early childhood learning.
At Morning Meadow the school day, week and year are based on natural, rhythmic cycles. The day is balanced between restful and energetic activities, according to the childs own developmental needs.
The weekly cycle nurtures the childs sense of stability as he learns to associate each day with its art:
Monday for painting,
Tuesday for wax-molding,
Wednesday for bread baking,
Thursday for coloring or sewing.,
Friday for gardening.
The school year revolves around seasonal celebrations that bring the wonder of nature to the children through stories, songs and circle time.
Morning Meadow Preschool combines healthy physical development and active imagination to help prepare children for grade school. Broad and fundamental practice in listening and speaking skills include the use of songs and rhymes, correct pronunciation and comprehension of poems and stories. This provides a foundation for the language arts.
The foundation for mathematics is built through imaginative play with objects that provide a
concrete basis for gross motor activity, balancing, coordination, spatial orientation, dexterity and the manipulation of symbols.
Social skills are fostered in learning to live, work and play in a group. Sharing, taking turns, common courtesy and politeness are practiced. Good habits are developed as children are taught to complete tasks and return objects to their designated place after use.
